Building Me

Building Me

Silent moments catch my soul,
knowing I am not fully whole.
I breathe the vapors you hand down
thankful for the learning now.

Once, I would not sit so still
living life until I had my fill.
Growing moments set me free
knowing you were not done with me.

Quiet moments catch my soul;
I look for you to make me whole.
My thoughts are given humbly,
knowing you are building me...

The Substance

Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Such a small thing we need when God is so evident. The amazing part of it all is that He even provides the faith that we need.

In the Quiet Moments

Quiet moments are things to cherish

His words direct, so we may not perish.

Listen when he softly speaks,

for you are who He gently seeks.

In the quiet moments, if we can settle our souls and stop the flow of words that slip from our mouths, we will hear His voice gently speaking to us.

It is in those quiet moments, when we sit without spilling, when we listen instead of controlling
that we can hear Him so clearly.

In those quiet moments, when we lift our hands because no one is looking, when we let ourselves cry because it comes, when we humble ourselves, His voice filters to our souls.

I want those quiet moments, where I bare my soul without speaking, where I listen to the voice that spoke the world into creation, where I bask in awe because He wants to speak to me…
It is in those quiet moments that I am truly free.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

“And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; 12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.”

1 Timothy 2:1-3

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;”

Ps 131:1

“A Song of degrees of David. LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. 2 Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. 3 Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.”

We May Obtain Mercy

Hebrews 4:12-16

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Standing Bare

1 Timothy 1:15 & 16

"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting."

God was longsuffering with the apostle Paul who had, before he came to salvation through Jesus Christ, blasphemed, persecuted the church, been prideful, and consented to the murder of a Christian named Steven...

Before you think that you have sinned too far, read these two verses. God is longsuffering; he wants all to come to salvation through Jesus Christ. You are not worthy in your own eyes, yet God sees you as his creation, his child, and his grace and mercy is reaching out to you. Don't ignore his call.

Standing Bare

Empty days filled with wanting;
Hollow memories forever haunting.
Shattered pieces cutting skin;
Splintered shadows of my sins.
A pulse within my soul still beats,
A sliver of light within me seeks.
Blinking blinding rays through tears,
Warming light melts many years.
Standing bare without a sin,
I take a step to begin again.
Slipping shadows try to cling,
But slide off robes, white and clean.
Buffered by he who paid a price,
My days are filled with following Christ.

A Quiet

Colossians 4:2

"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;"

A Quiet

There is a quiet
as we drift
on time’s cool passing;
living vessels filled
with peaking tender mercies
outstretched like new leaves
drinking drips of life.
We cup our hands
in clasps of prayers
moving our lips
in gentle worship silence.
A quiet that keeps us
still and wondering…
Awe encompassed,
drawing subtle sobs
as if emotion had no name…
Sitting where grace
renews at each dawning,
yet never leaving in despair.
How to capture this quiet
laying breathless in our lungs;
a speechless word
resting on our tongues.
It is a solemn praise
a very gentle sigh…

Think on These Things

A drop of ink stains the page;

living words transcend all age.

A breathing map guides along;

saving words teach us a song.

Philippians 4:6-8

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

James 4:8
"Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you..."

In Storms

Shadows draw with all their might,

a blanket of sorrows to pass the night.

I steep in storms within my sight,

I gasp for air, I grasp for light.

Isaiah 25:4
"For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall."

God is always ready to listen to your prayers, even in the deepest hour of your need; even when it feels like there is only silence; even when you have been the most imperfect in your life; even when you are facing the worst storm ever. All you need to do is lift up your voice to God. Tell him your troubles, your sorrows.

Ask for his help.

If you have sinned, ask him to forgive you.
You never have to wash yourself up before going to God. We humans can’t do that job anyway.

Mark 2:17
"When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

John 6:38 & 40
"For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."

God is listening. He is ready to hear your prayers. Talk to him. Give your life to him. He will fulfill your needs. He will help you through the storm.

Ps 33:20
"Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield."

Ps 40:16
"Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified."

Ps 28:7
"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him."

Invisible Things

Invisible Things

I heard you whisper
under icy portraits of winter painting,
your hand quietly slipping
crystal beauty, like sleeves,
on bare crimson branches.

A cameo caught in
one splendid drop,
solidly sipping on frozen time
--a millennium in moments
telling the story of
your deepest glory
handed down to your
breath-filled vapors.

I heard you, as I
sought blissful treasures
of the witness in creation;
invisible weavings of
your letters captured in
transparent molding
--a solid fingerprint
unique and ever pointing
back to you.

Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”

Holding on to Truth

Holding on to Truth

I am a seeker, a lover of truth. I speak it, I yearn for it, I live it. Truth is a powerful gift in life. It becomes more important each day. All are welcome to read my entries in this blog; as you do, hold to the knowledge that I speak the truth and I never want to hold any of it back. May the words reach deep into your hearts and may you know that it is with the deepest sincerity that I share each word with whomever wishes to read.

In the sea of souls placed upon this earth, God is not a respecter of persons. He has created each of us as unique individuals, dependent upon the love He so desires to pour out upon us.

Acts 10:34-35

"Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him."

We can hold on to the truth of this very well known verse--well known and used and full of awesome truth:

John 3:16-17

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

All who come to the knowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord--who accept Christ as their Savior and repent of their sins--establishes a place with Him in Heaven.

John 10:9-11

"I am the door: [Jesus] by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I [Jesus] am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He did it willingly. He could have, at any time, saved himself from the torment, torture, suffering, and death he endured for us. But he chose to sacrifice himself for us.

John 10:18
"No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father."

The amazing and wonderful part of it all--Jesus rose again and offers eternal life to us all. It is the simplest thing a person can do. It is freely given and the most rewarding gift anyone could ever receive. Like the many seashells, we are all unique, but we hold one commonality amongst us all--we have the choice to accept salvation from Christ and Christ alone.

In the Morning

In the Morning
In the morning I lift my voice and sing to God. I align myself with fresh hope and remember that He is in control...when I give up on taking things out of His hands. I want to make Him my first thought upon waking and my last thought upon drifting into sleep. For without Him, I am nothing, have nothing, and do nothing that has worth. Remember to take your first breath each morning straight from the hand of God; for He is the one who takes it and gives it back in the act of breathing and living.

Psalm 59:16-17

But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. 17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

Psalm 143:8

Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.
